GET TO KNOW ME

Being a Doula is a true calling for me.

Over the past 25 years, I have worked with many families as a nanny, taught in early education as a preschool teacher and after my 12 year old twins were born I became an in-home child care provider.

Looking back after the birth of my twins, I realize what a gift it is to have the support, care and guidance from a Doula.

As a Birth and Postpartum Doula, it is my goal to bring calm energy, respect, listen to, advocate and provide physical and emotional guidance to you and your support person during labor and postpartum care.

I love connecting with families where they are most comfortable and will acquiesce to the energy and space you wish to hold for such a sacred and gentle time.

In my free time I love to enjoy time with my husband, kids and pets, exploring the many trails around Central Oregon, camping, skiing, travel and laughing with friends.

KIND WORDS

“Rena is warm, loving, trusting, and has been a true blessing to our family. She brings experience, thoughtfulness, and consideration to how she teaches and guides. Her wealth of knowledge has helped us balance the many milestones we have crossed on our journey and to prepare for those ahead.”

Jess and Josh

“At 1am my water broke and I immediately text Rena. Within minutes I received a response from her with suggestions on what to do. Contractions weren’t strong enough so I went back to sleep. At 10am we decided to head to the birth center. While checking in I tested positive for COVID. Rena chose to stay with us and not be able to leave our birthing room until after our baby was born. Before going into labor, we knew we selected the right doula, but at that moment when Rena opted to stay with us, it showed me so much more about her character and teamwork orientation. As first-time parents, you can imagine the relief. Her suggestions, encouragement, and attentiveness helped me stay focused which allowed me to bring our baby girl safely into this world. As a bonus, Rena took amazing pictures throughout labor AND helped us with 2 weeks of postpartum care. She’s the full package! We couldn’t thank her enough for being a part of our journey. Thanks Rena!’

Amber and Jimmy

“Having Rena be a part of our second son’s birth was the best decision I have made. Her love for families, babies and birth is immediately apparent. As a labor and delivery nurse myself, I was excited to have Rena in our delivery so I could personally experience her services. She was a gift and I was so happy to have someone knowledgeable and supportive like her by my side. She was also able to take birth pictures that I will cherish forever. Words can not describe how grateful I was to also have her for a week of postpartum care. Rena was incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and caring. Rena is the exact person you want by your side during a vulnerable time bringing a newborn into the world. She is your girl whether it’s your first baby or your fifth!!”

Chelsea and Bryce

“Being new parents of twins was exhilarating and overwhelming, and having Rena be part of that very special and tender first two months was nourishing and delightful. Helping our infants be rested and content seemed effortless and joyful for her, and as we fumbled through our early days of parenthood her presence helped grow our knowledge and confidence.”

Darci

“She was present for the birth of my 3rd child and WOW I wish I had known about her with my first two! After having been through sleepless nights and navigating being a new mom with just a confused husband to assist, I know good care and help, and let me tell you, Rena is it!

She assisted us with overnights and day-sitting for the little one (as well as showed incredible patience when my 4 and 5 yr olds wanted to pester the baby). She was always on time, calm, loving, and full of knowledge. It was so wonderful to be able to discuss questions I had with her at 3 am during feedings.

The best part of the overnight care was that I would feed the baby and go right back to sleep, knowing that Rena would keep my little guy warm, safe and cozy while I got some much-needed rest.

My recovery on this third baby was a fraction of my other two, despite being almost 40 and a bit older, and I attribute this to Rena’s assistance.

This service is so worth every penny whether you want to sleep, advice, or just general loving care – Rena is it!”

As little one approached 2 months of age, we swapped some overnights to evenings through 10 or 11pm, which was great because she would help get him to sleep and then hand me a little sleeping bundle and I would take it from there.
I cannot recommend her enough for any type of care – nights, daytime, all of it!
